The city of Rutland is the seat of Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 16,495. It is located approximately 65 miles north of the Massachusetts state line and 20 miles east of the New York state line. Rutland is the third largest city in Vermont and is surrounded by the town of Rutland, a separate municipality.
Downtown Rutland is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places. Please find that link below. Easy access north on Route 7 you’ll find Burlington and Canada, traveling south you’ll find Manchester, Bennington and then the Massachusetts border.
Rutland has two High Schools with Rutland High and Mount St Joseph, known as MSJ, along with the Community College of Vermont and the College of St Joseph. You’ll also find the Sparten Arena, part of the Castleton University and the Rutland Country Club, a nice 18 hole golf course with clubhouse and restaurant.
